    • Tallahassee Tart

Posted at 11:48 pm by maisieandpip

My “Tallahassee Tart” lyric was inspired by my friend Caroline’s Halloween costume. A 60s inspired song, with electric guitars, piano, and harmonies.

      Tallahassee Tart

      Come on sisters

      Light the fuse

      Hit the streets

      It’s time to cruise

      Yeh girl

      In my kickass boots

      Gonna stand my ground

      I’m a Tallahassee tart

And this is my side of town

      Mop em up

      Zip em up

      Say bye bye

      Rama lama ding dong

      Ready for the next one

      Don’t waste my time

      Mr Five and Dime

You need big bucks for my kinda looks

So drive on by in your beat up truck

      Honey, tough luck…

…I’m waitin’ on Mr Country Club

      Mop em up

      Zip em up

      Say bye bye

      Rama lama ding dong

      Ready for the next one

      Gonna go hard

      Gonna go fast

      Gonna go full throttle

      With his champagne bottle

      Nothin’ gonna stop me

      I’m a Tallahassee tart

      I can finish them off

      Before they even start

And I charge em what I want

      Cos honey, it’s an art

      Mop em up

      Zip em up

      Say bye bye

      Rama lama ding dong

      Ready for the next one

      Mop em up

      Zip em up

      Say bye bye

      Rama lama ding dong

      Ready for the next one

I’m a Tallahassee tart standing my ground

In my kickass boots this is my side of town

      Yeh,

This is my side of town

    • The Devil’s Navel

I’ve always been obsessed with the sounds of Middle Eastern music so I decided to write a gay, erotic dance track, “The Devil’s Navel.” I imagine this music being played in a secret gay bar, hidden in the Medina in Marrakech, Morocco. This lyric was written for an imaginary band called “Sword Swallower” and it is the first track to be released from their upcoming EP “Slutty Mirage.” I shaved my chest for the album cover – Oh, no you didn’t – Oh, yes I did.

      The Devil’s Navel

I’m dancing in the devils navel

Hot desert men at every table

Plant your lips upon my head

Habibi take me to your bed

Habibi take me to your bed

I’m dancing in the devils navel

Hot desert men at every table

Move like a cobra poised to spit

Habibi give me more of it

Habibi give me more of it

I’m dancing in the devils navel

Hot desert men at every table

Draw your sword and let me swallow

Habibi I’m a tough act to follow

Habibi I’m a tough act to follow

I’m dancing in the devils navel

Hot desert men at every table

      Spread my pomegranate cheeks

And slay me like the Ancient Greeks

And slay me like the Ancient Greeks

I’m dancing in the devils navel

Hot desert men at every table

I’m dancing in the devils navel

Hot desert men at every table

Habibi give me more of it

Like the cobra poised to spit

Habibi, let me have a taste of it

    • Life’s a Beach

I wrote the lyrics for “Life’s a Beach” for a friend who is/was going through a tough time. The tender lyrics offer hope. I think they were written for myself too, as I feel lonely at times since Michael died. I think the words speak of the importance of connection. Humans are wired for connection and it’s OK to reach out. The words sounded like an early 70’s folk song – so Parker Redwood was imagined. I think he would have lived in the Pacific Northwest, and probably drove a Volkswagen van. I had fun making a 70s inspired album cover with my poncho. And the song definitely called for panpipes.

      Life’s a Beach

When you feel like a lonely grain of sand washed out to sea
      Remember life’s a beach
Where grains of sand find connection
I’m here, still within your reach

When you feel like a lonely grain of sand washed out to sea
      Remember life’s a beach
I’ve laid a picnic out for you
It’s all here, still within your reach

When you feel like a lonely grain of sand washed out to sea
      Remember life’s a beach
Follow the tide, and ride the wave back
Love, is still within your reach

I see you, lonely grain of sand washed out to sea
Before you disappear, read the postcard sent from me

Babe, I wish you were here

      Wish you were here
      Wish you were here
      With me

    • Pistol On My Nightstand

Back in the 1990s I was misbehavin’ at work with my friend Caroline and I invented a country singer persona for her and named her Ginger Cricket. I imagined her breakout song would be called ‘Pistol On My Nightstand.” Ginger Cricket doesn’t suffer fools lightly, especially when it comes to her men.

      Pistol On My Nightstand

Gotta a pistol on my nightstand

      Honey you’re a dead man

      Don’t gimme your shit

Cos you’re so full of it

Darlin’ your tank got no gas

You ain’t gonna fill my dreams

      With your sorry ass

      So pack your bags sunshine

Cos a storm’s headin’ your way

      Go ahead sugar

      And make my day

      Gotta pistol on my nightstand

      Honey you’re a dead man

You messed with the wrong chick

      You two-timing limp dick

      Cos I’m Ginger Cricket

      And don’t you forget it

      Gotta pistol on my nightstand

      Honey you’re a dead man

      Cos I’m Ginger Cricket

      And don’t you forget it
