I made a short video using old childhood photos of mine collaged together. My first few years were spent growing up in a small town, Knaresborough, which was quite a magical place for a child. First Memories describes some of that magic. Throughout my life I have used my imagination and creativity to rescue me. The scarlet macaw is a metaphor for my imagination getting me through the tough times. The beautiful piece of music, La symphonie des éclairs, by Zaho de Sagazan, seems to be the perfect accompaniment as it explores the idea of turning chaos into something beautiful.

The music is La symphonie des éclairs, by Zaho de Sagazan.

    • Portulaca Party…Happy Pride

My little portulacas look like a fiesta every morning. The divas don’t wake up until 10 am and they’ve had enough by noon. They take the rest of the day off – but for those two hours they go full throttle. Here is a video tribute to them — by the way, unlike my alternate persona DJ Fleur, I am really just a confirmed wallflower.

The music is Vamos a La Playa (Radio Edit) by Loona.

Michael and I are celebrating 36 years together. I came out in 1990 when I met Michael. You can read my coming out story here.

During our first few years together we took a lot of Florida beach vacations. Sanibel, Ft Myers, Key West and Ft. Lauderdale were our favorites.

This little video is a way to celebrate our 36th anniversary. The music is All The Way (Remix), by My Robot Friend.

I spent some time just enjoying my garden. Looking at the leaves from underneath and floating lilies in my water bowl.

The music is Mama by Sam Garrett.

    • Tribute to Lola, my Sago Palm

Posted at 11:09 pm by maisieandpip
      May 19th

Lola, my Sago Palm, had a rough winter. The cold and the snow damaged all her leaves. Last year she didn’t put forth any new growth so I was little bit concerned this spring. I gave her some coffee grounds and apparently that was just the jolt she needed.

Short film Lola starring Lola as herself and Shy Boy Cortez as Tony. Music is Copacabana by Barry Manilow.

I planted these snapdragons, pansies, ornamental kale and cabbages last autumn. They have survived the dark days of winter and are full of life and light this golden afternoon. The song is Srimad Bhagavatam, by Patrick Bernard.

Some flowers that helped me through the winter months; hellebores, violas, rosemary, dusty miller and some kale. The little jam pot is Torquay pottery made from the red clay found along the Devon coast of England.
There’s a lot to be sad about these days. This beautiful song by Moby, This Was Never Meant For Us is cathartic for me.
